Korea is a homogeneous country where all people speak one language. The traditional religions in Korea are: Confucianism, Buddhism and Shamanism. Christianity started in South Korea in 1784 and was spread by intellectuals who returned from China. For over 100 years, Christianity was suppressed, however, in the 1960's it started to blossom. There are approximately 15 million Christians in South Korea today, with more than two-thirds Protestant and about 15 % Catholic.

Our sisters first went to Korea in 1966 but withdrew in 1970.  Our second attempt was done by three Korean CPS sisters in 1986.  Presently there are sisters serving in various ministries in the Dioceses of Seoul and Cheongju.
