Heritage Workshop 2016
The Second Congregational Heritage Workshop took place at Precious Blood Convent, Shillington, PA from March 1 – April 29, 2016. It began with a snowfall and ended with a greening blossoming spring.
Ten sisters from six Provinces/ Regions together with Srs. Annette Buschgerd and Nancy Iampietro journeyed through the lived reality of our CPS history, Inner Spirit, Charism and Spirituality. It was a time of renewing and fanning into flame the gift given through Abbot Francis and Mother Paula.
Many topics were presented and discussed, reflected upon and taken to heart. Included were the major life experiences of Abbot Francis and Mother Paula, the Four Vocations of Abbot Francis, Personalities and Characteristics, Heroic Virtues, our CPS Family of Origin, Paschal Mystery, Precious Blood Spirituality, CPS Vows, etc.
CPS guest appearances by Sr. Walburga Ballhausen – on Mission Spirituality; Sr. Christa Mary Jones and Sr. Francis Bisland on the lived reality of call, community and the CPS journey in daily life added another dynamic. Sr Walburga travelled from Rome and stayed with us for two weeks. We are grateful for their generosity – and spirited expertise.
The group was lively, participative and eager. The final project presentations were creative and reflected the personalities of each – truly an example of ‘unity in diversity.’
Trips to Bethlehem, Washington DC and the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and locally gave ‘brief reprieves’ from the daily intensity of the Course and provided special joy.
And now - the true blessing of the Heritage Workshop begins – the handing on of the flame that has been re-enkindled. May the heritage sisters live aloud what they have harvested and may their provinces open their hearts to receive!
Special thanks to the Shillington Community for their wonderful and tireless hospitality and last but not least - to Sr. Ingeborg and her Team for their interest and support.
