Tanzania is one of the three countries belonging to the East African Province. It comprises the mainland of the former Tanganyika and Zanzibar. The first four CPS Sisters arrived in 1898 at Gare in Tanzania which was under the Apostolic Vicariate of Kilimanjaro. They were sent from Durban, South Africa to assist the Trappists in the difficult tasks of cultivating the land, attending to the domestic duties, training the women and children and helping the sick and poor in the area. At the present time, there are 11 CPS communities serving in Tanzania.

Sr. M. Octavia Kahema CPS
who died on 03.07.2019
in a tragic car accident in Tanzania
at the age of 51 years and in
the 22nd year of her profession
as a Missionary Sister of the Precious Blood.
